This is good news for American Fork residents:

North Utah County unites on library services

Residents in northern Utah County will have more flexibility when it comes to borrowing books.

Eagle Mountain, Lehi, American Fork and Pleasant Grove are establishing a cooperative borrowing service that will allow patrons to check out materials from any of four participating libraries.

The service will allow, for example, Lehi residents to borrow books from American Fork using their current library cards. Residents in cities without a library, such as Highland, will be able to buy nonresident cards to participate in the service.

The cooperative pilot program, set to begin this spring, will be tracked over a two-year period.

Patrons in cities without a library will be charged $70 for a nonresident card. Those in Eagle Mountain, where the fledgling library has a smaller collection than its neighbors, will be charged $35.
