The American Fork Symphony, under the direction of Art Allred, will perform a concert with a Scandinavian theme. The program will include “Symphony No. 2” by Jean Sibelius; “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1” by Edvard Grieg; “Swedish Rhapsody” by Hugo Alfven “Tragic Overture” by Fr. Berwald; and “Romance in G” by Svendsen will feature a violin soloist.

American Fork Symphony auditions

String, percussion and all other orchestral musicians are welcome to audition for the American Fork Symphony this month.
Rehearsals for the 2008-09 season begin Sept. 6, and continue every Saturday from 8-10 a.m. in the American Fork Junior High School band room, 1120 N. 20 West, American Fork.
The first performance will be Oct. 20 in the American Fork High School auditorium, and other performances include a Christmas concert and February show.
The symphony is sponsored by the American Fork Arts Council in conjunction with American Fork City, the Utah Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Players interested in joining the symphony can schedule an audition by calling Maxine Steele at 756-2330.

American Fork Symphony presents "Romantic Masterpieces"

The American Fork Symphony, under the direction of conductors Dr. Terry Hill and Alan Allred, will present a program of classical masterpieces. A featured part of the program will be a performance of Piano Concerto No. 2 by S. Rachmaninoff with piano soloist Sally Brinton. Sally Brinton is a former Miss Utah who won the Talent Award when she competed in the Miss America Pageant. She received her bachelor’s degree in music at the University of Utah and her master’s degree in piano performance at Juilliard in New York City. The symphony will also perform Procession of the Nobles by Rimsky-Korsakov; Pavane by Faure; The Moldau by Smetana; Blue Danube Waltz by Strauss; and The Star Wars Epic by John Williams. The ninety members of the Symphony come from
throughout Utah Valley.
