I had an opportunity last week to speak with Caleb Chapman, founder and director of The Music School here in American Fork. You can see most of that interview in the featurette I've put together above, but I decided to post the last two questions here on the site:
2 questions:
What is the best thing about American Fork?
"I think the best thing about American Fork, especially as it relates to The Music School, is the emphasis that the community's put on the arts. There's such a strong committment going all the way back to The Pageant of the Arts (which used happen here in American Fork), to the concert series they have in the Summer, to the concerts for Steel Days. I think there's a real emphasis on the arts, both music as well as visual arts; and that makes it a lot easier for us to connect with the community."
What is one thing that could make American Fork an even better place?
"I think we have more history and culture in American Fork than people realize and I would like to see the community rallying together a little bit more to get an arts center put here. There's a lot of people trying to make that happen and I think it would really cement the image of American Fork being a music and cultural center if the community could pull together and find a way to make an arts center happen. The Music School's certainly committed to trying to do our part to institute that. Hopefully we can be part of the answer in making that happen."
